The Spiritual Levels
There are Panj Khands (five region) in which Sikhs follow. They signify the five stages in Sikh traditions of spiritual progress that lead sikhs to the ultimate truth. This is also shown in Japji Sahib.
The first stage is Dharam Khand, the earth exists for dharma to be practised. The word dharam has been employed in the sense of duty.
The second stage is Gian Khand. In the realm of knowledge, it is ignited. The seeker becomes aware of the universe and the mystery of existence. Through the creation, he gains knowledge of the Creator from whom it emanates. This may also link back to spiritual consciousness.
Saram Khand is the sphere of spiritual endeavor, here people strives against the last remnants of his ego, which still afflict him despite his experiencing strong emotions of humility in Gian Khand.
Karam Khand is the process of liberation with grace, gets initiated and is brought to completion in this phase. The devotee reaches a state where he is one with Ultimate Reality and with those who have attained this state of bliss.
SACH KHAND- is the realm of the truth, the final state of the evolution of human consciousness. One can only experience it, but not describe it, words cease to have any meaning and no analogies can help describe the uniqueness.
The devotee becomes one with Him and realises Him as a unifying force working through all objects of His creation. In this way, he attains the non- spatial sach khand to be the dweller therein, the Nirankar, who is nowhere outside his own heart.
